On Thursday, May 18th, 2023 educators and allies across DC met at 7AM before school started to demand that we get paid our retroactive money on time.

Members planned and executed mini rallies at Anacostia, Benning Rd, Columbia Heights and Waterfront/Southwest in response to the announcement made by the DC Government on teacher appreciation week that our retroactive payment for a 3 year expired contract would be delayed for at least a month.
Members reported awesome solidarity from the community and an excitement to being outside interacting with DC residents and telling them about the challenges we are facing from the mayor under mayoral control of our schools.
We must keep up the pressure as we begin negotiating our next contract to win big on working conditions that support our students.
